Los Angeles Angels Re-Sign Veteran Starter Taijuan Walker

The Los Angeles Angels have been struggling for consistent success in Major League Baseball, and their starting pitching has been a major issue. Through their first 69 games played, the Angels are last in the American League West with a 27-42 record, and their team ERA of 4.68 ranks 26th in baseball. Despite this, the Angels have found some bright spots, including the historic start of Jose Soriano. To address this issue, the Angels have signed veteran starter Taijuan Walker to a minor league deal. He was released by the Phillies and signed with the Angels, where he had a 2.45 ERA across 11 innings between the Angels rookie-ball team and the AAA Salt Lake Bees. However, Walker used the opt-out clause in his deal with the Angels to seek a potential major league return. The Angels have now brought Walker back on board, signing him to a minor league deal and sending him straight back to the Bees in AAA. This move gives the Angels good depth in their minor league system and provides them with a veteran starter who can give them key innings if another injury were to happen at the MLB level. Walker's experience and ability make him a valuable asset to the Angels, and he could potentially see action in the majors before long.
